Until rescue, Desammal had never experienced consistent love and security in her life. Her father abandoned her and her four siblings when they were young—leaving their mother to provide for them, even though she couldn’t work. Their stepfather forced the five children to beg for money to pay their bills. When they refused, he burned Desammal's older brother's foot with an iron rod. In fear, Desammal and her older sister, Kasthuri, went to beg on the streets, where they were in danger of abuse or sex trafficking.
Because of this, Desammal's mother chose to send her children to a home that could provide proper food and shelter for them. The girls were split up, and Desammal's shelter scolded and beat her for years. She jumped the walls of the shelter and reported her situation to officials. They quickly acted on her report and sent her to our partner’s safe home, where she was reunited with Kasthuri. Desammal was so excited to see her sister after years of separation. She still has not seen her mother or her brothers, who are most likely continuing to beg and sell drugs for money.
In our partner’s safe home, Desammal is properly cared for and receives the love, affection, and security she deserves. Your sponsorship helps cover Desammal's tuition fees, provide her with a school uniform, and continue to give her consistent and nutritious meals. Your support ensures that Desammal's not only continues to grow in a healthy and safe environment, but also assures her that she is capable, valued, and loved.
